In 2009, Kelsea wrote this letter to President Obama on her experience as a survivor of Hurricane Katrina. Today, after joining the President back in New Orleans as he marked 10 years since the disaster, she shared this reflection about how her family has rebuilt and succeeded since then:
“After moving to Mississippi, I really didn’t know what was going to happen. But now I have been able to create friendships with some people that I cannot imagine my life without. Through everything the people of Mississippi have shown compassion and support for my family and what all we have been through. I really couldn’t be more thankful for the people of Mississippi and the people of the United States of America.” —Kelsea
